Pembroke Welsh Corgis are known as big dogs in a small package, and are the only dog breed that are true dwarves. Corgis are medium size dogs that are short in height, have long bodies, and have a husky appearance. They think they are big dogs, but love to sit in laps like small dogs. They range from 10 inches to 12 inches tall from the ground to the top of their shoulders. Female corgis weigh 25-28 lbs in show condition, male corgis weigh 27-30 lbs in show condition, and pet corgis easily get over 30 lbs.
Pembroke Welsh Corgis are the smallest of the herding dogs. Corgis make great indoor pets and outdoor pets. Corgis are great with kids and other animals. Corgis are very mild mannered, and are easy to train. Corgis are usually ranked as being the #10 smartest breed. Corgis love to run while outside, and love setting in your lap while inside. Corgi owners include: kids, teens, college students, young families, and senior citizens. Corgis make great pets in: city apartments, farm homes, and even in the palace with the Queen of England.
Pembroke Welsh Corgis are Royalty of the dog family. The Queen of England received her first Corgi as a childhood gift from her father the King of England. The Queen's first Corgi is gone, but she now has more than 5 Corgis which are descendents of her original pet Corgi. Pembroke Welsh Corgis have been around British Royalty for decades, and Corgis will make great pets for you too!
The Queen's first Corgi was Rozavel Golden Eagle aka "Dookie" from the famous Rozavel Kennel in the UK. I have traced the Pedigrees of 3 of my Corgis to more than 25 Corgis from the very same Rozavel Kennels, including the most famous Champion Rozavel Red Dragon. Your Pembroke Welsh Corgi puppy will share the same heritage.
